On December 10-12, 2021, something heartbreaking occurred. Twisters of massive size and scale tore through the heart of the United States. As many as 90 people are believed to be dead. 6 states and hundreds of small communities, businesses, and families all experienced the horrors of losing everything they thought they had. It took mere moments for these powerful tornadoes to tear through people's homes, small businesses, churches, and many other smaller, valuable things like cars and trucks.
Long-standing communities have been shaken by these tornadoes. They have left massive scales of damage and destruction in their wake. Seeing the need, we knew we had to step in. Now, we are asking people like you to take the next step in helping us bring some semblance of restoration to these devastated communities. These are families that have no home or shelter and many have lost everything in the destruction.
One tornado traveled more than 200 miles, destroying everything in its path. Hundreds of people were injured. Those who escaped unscathed found themselves without homes to return to. And on top of that, they might be out of work because the business they work for or even own has been destroyed by the tornado. This is the experience of thousands of people who found themselves in the path of this powerful storm surge.
These destructive tornadoes could be the end of the story. They could be the final blow to families that were already on the brink of collapse with lockdowns that have forced them into a tight squeeze financially. It could be the final blow for businesses that were fledgling through the pandemic, struggling to keep their doors open. But advocates like you don't let disaster have the final say. People like you extend a hand and give hope to the hopeless. You are the difference makers of this world.
So what exactly are we looking to do? We are hoping to provide supplies and food to people who need them. We are also looking to clean up the rubble and rebuild some buildings if possible. We are hoping to do whatever work is necessary to make a difference within the communities that have been most impacted by these tornadoes. We want to show these people that their fellow countrymen, for those who live within the US, see them and are willing to help them rebuild. Also, we want these communities to see that a group united for a powerful cause can overcome anything. That is what you, an advocate for the poor, do every time you meet a need: you show just how powerful this community of givers is.
So, we ask that you consider partnering with us by helping us reach our goal of raising $15,000 to impact those who have suffered from these storms. We know that together, we can impact these small, hurting communities. To those who are already extending arms out to meet needs, we thank you. We are so excited to see these towns and cities rise from the ashes of devastation.
We hope that the story that comes from this is a story of hope. We hope that these communities can be rebuilt so that, should the time come, they can help out those in need. We pray that those who give find themselves blessed. May 2022 be a year that allows us to transform lives. May 2022 not be a year of sadness for these people, but one of power and perseverance. Thank you for considering giving and for choosing to be an advocate for those less fortunate.
